The purpose of the informational report we are writing is to inform. Specifically it is intended to  increase awareness of what writing in my field, engineering, involves. The paper should cover every aspect of writing in my field, both scholarly and non-academic, such as progress reports, procedures, project descriptions, reports, etc. The audience of this paper is college freshmen who are considering the field of engineering. Since this is written to students with little to no experience in the field, the writing must be very specific, assuming the students have no prior knowledge of the subject, or what the writing entails.
